The 10th anniversary of Peterborough‘s official Diwali celebration promises an “explosion of entertainment.” The Hindu festival of light, celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains, will be commemorated at Cathedral Square on Saturday.
The event will feature a diverse range of activities and performances, including dance, music, and delectable South Asian cuisine. Event secretary Rajni Reddy expressed her excitement, describing it as a fantastic celebration.
While Diwali is traditionally a Hindu festival, the decision to hold the celebration at Cathedral Square aims to promote it as a multi-cultural and multi-faith event. This approach allows all communities to showcase their talent and culture, making it an inclusive and diverse celebration.
The first Diwali celebration in Peterborough took place in 2013 at the city’s Guildhall, and since then, it has grown significantly. This year’s milestone event promises to be a vibrant and memorable occasion for all attendees.
